The current team has quality players.

The Super Eagles Coach, Steven Keshi has denied reports that he is set to invite Osaze Odemwingie, Obafemi Martins, and Yakubu Aiyegbeni back to the national team.

Keshi, who spoke exclusively to PREMIUM TIMES, said he did not discuss the rumoured re-invitations with any journalist. He said he has quality players in his team at present and the only player he is ready to invite to the team is Victor Anichebe.

“I never said that I will bring any of these players (Osaze, Martins, Ayegbeni) back to the national team.

“The only player’s name I mentioned was Victor Anichebe, I said that I will try to talk to him again and take it from there and that was it,” Keshi said.

He reassured Nigerians that he has quality players in his team, adding, “We have seen Osaze, we have seen Martins, we have seen the rest of them; what more do you guys want?”

Keshi is presently in camp in Abuja with the home-based players in preparation for next Saturday’s match against Cote d’Ivoire.

The striking position for the Super Eagles has been a source of worry for Keshi and observers of Nigerian football as the invited forwards failed to impress at the just concluded Confederations Cup in Brazil.
