Nigeria’s last group game is against South Korea.

Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles, on Monday secured Africa’s first victory at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey, as they thrashed debutants Cuba 3-0.

The Coach John Obuh tutored Nigerian side narrowly lost their opening fixture 3-2 to Portugal and needed a victory in Monday’s game to stay in contention; which they deservedly got.

African representatives: Mali, Ghana, Egypt and Nigeria, before today, failed to win their opening game with Mali managing a draw and others losing their first games.

Two goals in the first half and another goal in the second half saw Nigeria smiling away with all three points on offer.

Wikki Tourist and African Youth Championship top goal scorer, Umar Aminu, got a brace in the 19th and 23rd minute to put the six-time African Champions ahead after the first 45 minutes.

Skipper Abduljeleel Ajagun took the game away from the reach of the Cubans when he scored the third goal in the 67th minute to take his tally at the Turkey tournament to three goals.

The Dolphins of Port Harcourt player had a chance to increase the scoreline but failed to convert the spot kick gifted Nigeria after striker, Olarenwaju Kayode, was hacked down in Cuba’s 18-yard box.

The Flying Eagles will next play South Korea who’s second game is against Portugal after defeating Cuba 2-1.
