Neymar scored a fantastic goal

Brazil have avoided a potential semi-final against Spain.

Brazil emerged top of Group A at the Confederations Cup after defeating Italy 4-2.

The host have thus avoided a possible semi-final clash against World and European champions, Spain, who will top Group B if they draw or defeat Nigeria on Sunday.

Italy, with six points from three matches, come second in Group A and will meet the top team in Group B in the semi-final.

Dante put Brazil ahead on the night in the last minute of the first half.

The second half witnessed five goals. One from Neymar and two from Fred meant Brazil scored 4; while Giaccherini and Chiellini scored for Italy.

Brazilian wonderkid, Neymar, has thus scored in Brazil’s three matches so far in the competition.

In the other match of the group, Mexico defeated Japan, 2-1, to take third position in Group A.
