Nigeria play Tahiti on Monday night.
World champions, Spain, put up a domineering performance to defeat South American champions Uruguay, 2-1, in the first match of Group B of the FIFA Confederations Cup.
The Spanish team expectedly dominated possession and goals from Pedro and Roberto Soldado ensured that they went ahead, 2-0, in the first half.
Despite dominating play in the second half, it was Uruguay who scored the only goal in the half, with Luis Suarez converting a free kick in the 88th minute.
Spain with three points now top the group, while Nigeria could go top, albeit temporarily, if they beat Tahiti with a higher goal margin in Monday’s match, the second in Group B.
