Turkey 2013: Flying Eagles set for final test game

The team will play their first match of the world Cup on Friday.

The Flying Eagles gave a sneak preview of what to expect in their opening U20 World Cup game against Portugal on Friday with an attacking formation for Saturday’s test game against German club, Unterhaching.

Coach John Obuh is known to prefer two defensive midfielders but has instead gone for only one – Moses Orkuma – for this final warm-up game.

This means there is no place for Ovboka Agboyi, who has proved to be a calming influence for the back four over a long time.

Samuel Okani has also been preferred to the first-choice at the Africa Youth Championship Jonah Usman.

Okani was No.1 during the AYC qualifiers but suffered a hand injury leading to the final tournament in Algeria.

The defence of Shehu Abdullahi, Kingsley Madu, Ikechukwu Okorie and Chizoba Amaefule has stabilised since the AYC, while Olympiacos of Greece new signing, Michael Olaitan, will start ahead of Uche Agbo as an offensive midfielder alongside skipper Abduljaleel Ajagun.

Top scorer at the AYC, Umar Aminu, has been pushed to the right wing to allow big striker, Alhaji Gero, lead the strike force that also has Chidi Osuchukwu on the left flank.

Kick-off for the match is 2 p.m. local time, which is 1 p.m. Nigerian time.
