Musa missed a Super Eagles friendly to play for his club.
Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa, was on target on Saturday as he helped his team, CSKA Moscow, lift the Russian Cup.
Musa was influential in seeing-off the challenge posed by Anzhi Mazchakala captained by former African footballer of the year Samuel Eto’o, as his side completed a domestic double having emerged League champions a fortnight ago.
Fast-paced Musa, who was excused from the Mexico friendly, to help his club in Saturday’s final justified his stay when he shot his team ahead after just nine minutes of play which left Eto’o and his Anzhi teammates dumbfounded.
The big spenders however rallied back and got an equalizer in the 74th minute through Lassana Diarra which dragged the game to first extra time and then penalty shoot-outs.
In the ensuing penalty kick, the final cheeky chip from Doumbia in the shoot-out sealed victory for Ahmed Musa as he joins the likes of Efe Ambrose, Ogenyi Onazi and Elderson Echejile who have all enjoyed Cup wins this season.
Musa is now expected to join his Super Eagles teammates as they prepare for the World Cup qualifying matches against Kenya and Namibia as well as campaign in the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, starting June 15.
