The Kano Pillars fought hard for three points in their game against Kaduna United.
Kano Pillars are back at the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after battling a 3-2 victory over Northern rivals, Kaduna United, on Wednesday May 22.
The three points from Wednesday’s game means Pillars are now on 25 points with a game at hand and have now overtaken former table toppers, Heartland FC, who stay on 22 points after going down to a 2-1 defeat in Akure in the hands of Sunshine Stars also on Wednesday.
In the other midweek fixtures, Shooting Stars FC returned to winning ways as they defeated visiting Nasarawa United, 2-0, in Ibadan after a shock home loss to Heartland FC last term.
In Ilorin, ABS FC survived an earlier scare as they came from a goal down to defeat hard fighting Enugu Rangers 2-1.
The other Ilorin team in the NPFL, Kwara United, posted the shock result of the day as they handed a shock 1-0 defeat to Lobi Stars away at the Kastina Ala Stadium.
The away victory is the eight this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League which is currently 14-week old.
