Spain defeated Nigeria 3-0 in the first day of the men’s event.
The Nigeria National Wheelchair Tennis Team has suffered two straight defeats at the on-going wheelchair tennis BNP Paribas World Team Cup event taking place in Antalya, Turkey.
In a statement from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) on Tuesday, Spain defeated Nigeria 3-0 on the first day in the men’s World Group 2.
The one week event will hold from May 20 to May 26.
According to the statement, Nigeria suffered the second defeat on May 21 when Belgium thrashed it 3-0. Nigeria is represented by Alex Adewale and Jude Uwazie.
A total of 52 teams from 28 nations are competing in four categories of men, women, quad and junior.
Netherlands is defending its women’s and junior titles, while France is the defending men’s champion and Israel the defending quad champion.
The World Team Cup is the ITF’s flagship wheelchair tennis event often referred to as the Davis and Fed Cups of wheelchair tennis.
