Nigeria is ranked fourth in Africa.
The Coach Stephen Keshi tutored side previously ranked 31st in the world, in the April edition of the monthly rankings, were idle under the period under review but still moved up three places.
Ivory Coast, Ghana and Mali remain above Nigeria in Africa while Algeria, Tunisia, Zambia, Burkina Faso, South Africa, and Equatorial Guinea complete the list of Africa’s best ten teams.
FIFA explained that in comparison to last month’s action, there are only a few changes in the current rankings.
In many countries, the national championships are drawing to a close, which explains the small number of matches played at international level. Only seven matches were played in the last month, all of which were friendlies.
Spain continues to top the table ahead of Germany and Argentina, followed by Croatia and Portugal.
The only movers within the top 20 are Switzerland (14th, up 1) and Belgium (15th, up 1), who have both climbed one place, overtaking Mexico (16th, down 2).
More movement is to be expected in the table in June, when the teams that qualified for the FIFA Confederations Cup play their first warm-up matches ahead of the showdown in Brazil.
Already the Super Eagles have lined up a friendly with Mexico in the United States at the end of May. The Mexican national team are ranked 16th in the latest rankings after dropping two places.
The Nigerian side, as African Champions, will represent the continent at the Confederations Cup.
