Tottenham winger, Gareth Bale, was on Sunday named the Professional Footballers’ Association, PFA Player of the Year for the 2012/2013 season. The 23-year-old also won the PFA Young Player of the Year for the season.
The pacy winger defeated current Premier League top scorers, Robin Van Persie of Manchester United and Luis Suarez of Liverpool to win the top award. Others nominated for the award include Juan Mata and Eden Hazard, both of Chelsea, and Michael Carrick of Manchester United.
This is the second time the Welsh winger will win the top award, having also won in the 2010/2011 season.
Bale also defeated Christian Benteke, Jack Wilshere, Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, and Danny Welbeck to win the Young Player of the Year Award.
The winger has played a major role in the Spurs current battle for a top four finish, scoring 19 goals in 30 games.
