The team has an ambition to get promoted to the Nigerian Premier League.
A former Coach of Nigeria Super Eagles, Austin Eguavoen, has joined the National League side, City Of David, COD, United FC, as the Head Coach.
Eguavoen, a previous coach of Sharks Football Club and former Super Eagles player, joined his new club on Thursday.
The Coach, whose contractual terms were not disclosed, is expected to start work immediately with a task to take the club to the Premier League next season.
Eguavoen confirmed his appointment to PREMIUM TIMES.
“Yes it is very true, I have to take the job because of the love I have for the game. When they called me and I went there I saw their discipline and professionalism, it actually belongs to a church and it’s like God is calling me to work for him,” he said.
“They are very serious, if I don’t coach them who will? All of us can’t coach Kano Pillars or Enyimba at the same time. We can’t coach the Super Eagles at the same time. Erickson coached England and after that he went to coach Leicester City, there’s nothing wrong with it.”
Speaking on his plans for his new club, Eguavoen said, “I am very happy with the club and with all I’m seeing. It’s a possibility to take them to the Nigeria Premier League, we will try our best.”
COD United currently sit on the 4th position of the Nigeria National League.
