Chelsea are through to the semi final.
Nigeria’s Victor Moses made sure he scored in both legs of the Europa League quarter final battle against Russia’s
Rubin Kazan as he was again on target for Chelsea on Thursday in their 3-2 loss in Moscow. Chelsea, however, qualified by winning 5-3 on aggregate.
Fernando Torres opened scoring for Chelsea after just five minutes to continue his goal scoring streak, and Victor Moses added a second in the second half, after Rubin Kazan had equalised, to give Chelsea a 2-1 lead.
It was the Russians who laughed last after goals from Gokdeniz Karadeniz and Bibras Natcho gave them the win on the night.
With Thursday’s progress into the semi final of the Europa League, the Blues are still in contention for two trophies as they will attempt for a final ticket in the FA Cup against Manchester City this weekend.
The reigning European kings also have their eyes on finishing in the top four in the Premier League to secure their return to Champions League football where they surprisingly lost out in the group stages this season.
