The competition is scheduled to hold between March 28 and April 7 in Hammanet, Tunisia.
The Coach of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation Junior Team, Adedotun Omoniyi, said on Monday that Nigeria will do well at the International Table Tennis Federation and Africa Junior/Cadet Open Championship.
The competition is scheduled to hold between March 28 and April 7 in Hammanet, Tunisia.
The team, comprised of nine players and officials, will depart their Lagos State training camp on Friday for Tunisia, the coach said.
Omoniyi, who is also the Ondo State table tennis head coach, said on telephone on Monday in Akure that the championships would be used to identify new talents. He said that the talents identified would be groomed to represent the country in the future in the next few years and would be used for the qualifiers for major international tournaments.
“The federation is trying to groom and expose young talents to international competitions so as to have a quality team that will replace the old players. So, the championships in Tunisia are a right developmental programme to really improve the standard of our players. The players have been training before now and we are sure of good results in Tunisia. We will not let the country down,” he added.
