Ambrose will miss the match due to the yellow cards he received at two World Cup qualifier matches.
Nigeria and Celtic FC defender, Efe Ambrose, will miss the World Cup Qualifier against the Harambee of Kenya due to two previous yellow cards, officials announced.
In a statement, the Head of Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Emmanuel Ikpeme, on Thursday said, “Yes, Efe Ambrose will miss the match in Calabar after getting a yellow card against Namibia in a World Cup [qualifier] tie in June last year and was also yellow carded against Malawi in Blantyre in the same competition.”
When PREMIUM TIMES contacted Ambrose via phone conversation in his U.K. base, he said, “I don’t want to comment much on this but I will come for the match but will not play. It is football and it happens and the most important thing is for us to win.”
Nigeria leads with 5 points in Group F of the World Cup Qualifier and will meet with Kenya in Calabar on March 23.
