Sunday Mba spoke exclusively to Premium Times about Super Eagles upcoming games.
Mba spoke exclusively to PREMIUM TIMES about his expectations in the game against Kenya on March 23.
He said, “It’s not going to be an easy game between Nigeria and the Harambee of Kenya. We are the African champions. Our opponents will really require hard work to beat us. I’m very optimistic about our success over Kenya because I know the game and I know the team. We will play our match and see what happens.”
Speaking on the Confederations Cup coming up in Brazil where Nigeria will be meeting the World Champions, Spain, in the same group, Mba said he’s optimistic and he believes Nigeria can defeat Spain.
“In football, anything is possible. I believe we can beat Spain and I know we will make it out of the group stage in Brazil. We will take it step by step, one game at a time, like we did in South Africa. I can’t say now that we will lift the cup but we will take the games as they come and see what happens from there.”
About the Mexican friendly match organized for the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation, he said, ‘It’s a good thing the NFF organized such a game. It will be a good friendly, I’m sure. African Champions meeting with North American Champions will go a long way to help the team. We are going to play a good match this will help our unity and game plan.”
Although he has shown his affection for the Spanish League in the past, Mba, however, said it’s too late for him to change clubs now.
“I will have to remain here in the local league. It’s not possible for me to go elsewhere now that all the transfer windows are closed but, I will definitely be playing in Europe this summer. Before then, I remain a local league player.”
