The South African event is scheduled to take place from March 20 till April 9.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Association, Bukola Olopade, has said that the Nigeria will be participating at the wheelchair basketball world cup qualifiers that will take place in South Africa in March.
Mr. Olopade said the team to represent Nigeria at the event is a formidable one adding that in the last two years, the wheelchair basketball association has worked to elevate the status of the game.
The South African Wheelchair basketball event is scheduled to take place from March 20 till April 9.
Mr. Olopade said his association has not “bothered the National Sports Commission for funding,” saying “we have a Grand Patron who’s helping us, we thank Dr. Afolabi who has donated wheel chairs to us”.
He appealed to the private sector and individuals to support the association, sighting the success of the paralympians in previous competitions.
Mr. Olopade expressed delight at the level wheelchair basketball is and said his dream is to make wheelchair basketball second only to football in Nigeria.
