Stephen Keshi is to continue as Head Coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles.

Keshi reversed his decision to resign after having a fruitful meeting with the National Sports Commission Chairman, Bolaji Abudulahi, in the wee hours of Monday.

“My attention has been drawn to reports in the media that I have resigned my appointment as Head Coach of Super Eagles of Nigeria,’ Keshi said in a statement on Tuesday morning.

Keshi admitted that things had not gone exactly according to script in the past few weeks but revealed that he had decided to continue as Super Eagles head coach.

“While I have had cause to express my displeasure over some issues that happened in the course of our participation in the AFCON which my team won by the grace of God, especially concerning my relationship with the Nigerian Football Federation. I have since had opportunity to discuss the various issues with all concerned.

“I am therefore pleased to say that I have reconsidered my position and have decided to continue with my job,”  he said.

The former national team captain praised Mr. Abdullahi “for his swift action’ in ensuring that the rift was resolved.

“I want to thank the Honourable Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, for his swift and kind intervention,” Keshi concluded.

Keshi and the Super Eagles contingent to South Africa are aboard a chartered flight heading to Abuja where the Eagles will be hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa.

Congratulations and thanks the Big Boss for rescinding your decision. You have proved to be a real talent magnet by acquiring, developing and retaining a combination of foreign and local talents that have gotten the job done and beyond expectations too.Nigerians are grateful to you.As for the NFF indifference is a characteristic not well suited to leadership. What is needed at this time is total synergy with the National Coach to confront the challenges ahead ie Confederation Cup and the World Cup qualifier with mutual trust and respect in the public interest.
