South Africa are back at the finals after missing out on the two previous editions of the Africa Cup of Nations. They are hosting the 2013 edition and will be looking to do well at home. South Africans still have in mind the euphoria that came along with Bafana Bafana’s first and only triumph in 1996 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Since that historic moment, South Africa football has witnessed just few glorious spells (Runners up in 1998 against Egypt). A series of setbacks have followed since as they have often crashed out in the group stages of the competition and even failed to qualify for the last two finals.
