Nigeria’s Moses was on the scorer’s sheet for Chelsea.
New Chelsea signing, Demba Ba, got his Blues career to a flying start scoring two goals in Chelsea’s 5-1 comeback win over Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
Senegalese Demba Ba, who only completed his 7.5m Pound move from Newcastle barely 24 hours ago, was handed a starter’s shirt and he did not waste time to open his goal scoring account as he fired the Chelsea equalizer in the 35th minute after Southampton had taken a shock lead off a Rodriguez 22nd minute strike.
Nigeria’s Victor Moses then shot the FA Cup holders ahead when he scored in the last minute of the first half to make sure Chelsea get the advantage after the first 45 minutes.
Chelsea were not done as Branislav Ivanovic nodded-in the third goal for the Coach Rafa Benitez side in the 52nd minute before Demba Ba capped a superb debut with another goal in the 61st minute.
Frank Lampard was then brought in by Coach Benitez and he scored from the spot to end proceedings at 5-1 away from home.
Meanwhile, Nigerian midfielder, John Obi Mikel, was again left out of the Chelsea squad that played the Third Round English FA Cup fixture at St Mary Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Saturday’s blackout for Mikel is the third successive snub by Coach Rafa Benitez as the two Nigerians team up with the Eagles at the Faro, Portugal, camp where players are sweating it out for places in the plane to South Africa.
