Shola Ameobi and his brother both played in the match.
Shola Ameobi and Junior brother, Sammy, were on the starting line-up for Newcastle as the Magpies were shown the exit door in the English FA Cup after losing their Third Round clash with Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0.
Shola who has been in the news for the wrong reasons after turning his back on Nigeria ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa was Newcastle’s skipper on the day; but the Kogi State born striker did not only fail to find the back of the net but was also red carded in the 62nd minute as the woes of Newcastle continues.
Brighton got the lead on the 33rd minute through A. Orlandi and sealed the game when William Hoskins doubled the lead in the 87minute.
Incidentally, Newcastle were also knocked out by the same team last season but that was in the 4th round. They have become the first English Premier League team to exit this year’s FA Cup.
With the FA Cup dreams now over, Newcastle will have their eyes turned on Premier League survival as they have continued to slip down on the log on the English Premier League table with four consecutive defeats.
