The NPL must now conduct its congress before December 11.

The Nigeria Football Federation, Friday, re-instated the board of the Nigeria Premier League, NPL.

The federation in a communiqué released at the end of the emergency meeting its Executive Committee said it “reviewed the recent developments in the NPL with special regard to the resolution of the Premier League Club owners removing the Chief Rumson Baribote led Board and constituting an Interim Committee.”

The NFF executive committee said its members unanimously rejected club owners’ resolution as “none of it complies with the provisions of the NPL Statutes.”

“The Executive Committee has therefore directed immediate convening of a proper Congress in line with the NPL Statutes.”

The NFF directed the Premier League board to convene the congress of the league body before December 11 in Abuja. Three members of the NFF executive committee will attend the congress as observers.

The congress is expected to approve a new date for the commencement of the 2012/ 2013 season of the Nigerian Premier League.

The executive committee meeting was chaired by Aminu Maigari, the NFF President.
