The embattled chairman of the Nigerian Premier League, NPL, Victor Baribote, has said that he is still the chairman of the League.
Baribote, in a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES, described the dissolution of the NPL board as illegal and of no consequence. He said it was done in violation of the NPL statutes.
The embattled board chairman also said the congress of the NPL will go ahead as scheduled in Kano on Thursday, December 6.
“The secretariat is on its way to Kano for tomorrow’s congress. As far as I’m concerned, I am the chairman of the NPL according to the statutes of the NPL,” Baribote said.
Reporters are currently gathered at the NPL secretariat in Abuja waiting to be briefed on the current situation.
