The Scot has been United’s coach for 26 years.

It was a re-union of sort as several former and current Manchester United players gathered at Old Trafford, Friday, to attend the unveiling of a statue of the Premier League’s most successful manager, Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United greats who played under the Scot including Eric Cantona, Peter Schmeichel, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who scored United’s injury-time winner in the 1999 Champions League final, were present as the nine-foot bronze statue was unveiled.

It was also an opportunity for the United old boys to see some of their colleagues still playing for United such as Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. The duo joined the rest of the Manchester United first-team squad, who were all present at the ceremony to see the statue of the Scot with his crossed arms.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been Manchester United’s manager for 26 years.

He is the Premier League’s most successful manager with 12 titles and has also won other local and continental trophies with United including two UEFA Champions League titles.
