Nov. 6 (PREMIUM TIMES) – English Champions, Manchester City’s chances of qualifying for the second round of the UEFA Champions League nosedived Tuesday night as they were held at home, 2-2, by Dutch Champions, Ajax, on matchday 4.
In the other Group D match, Mesut Ozil scored a rare free kick in the last minutes of the second half as Real Madrid were held at home 2-2 by German Champions, Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund top the group of death with 8 points, followed by Real with 7, Ajax with 4; while Manchester City only have 2 points from four matches.
In Group A, three Nigerian internationals, Brown Ideye, Lukman Haruna, and Taiye Taiwo, played ad their club, Dynamo Kiev, played a goalless draw with FC Porto; while PSG beat Dynamo Zagreb 4-0.
Group B saw Arsenal throw away a 2-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Schalke 04 in Germany; while Olympiakos beat Montpellier 3-1.
Italian giants, AC Milan, could only secure a point as they played 1-1 with Malaga in Milan. In the other Group C game, Anderlecht beat Zenit St Petersbugh 1-0.
Matchday 4 continues on Wednesday with eight matches to be played.
