Fifteen people were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ibadan Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly setting ablaze the office of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Ogbere, Ibadan.
The Police Prosecutor, Oriola James, said that the accused persons invaded the PHCN building on January10 during the protests that followed the removal of the subsidy on petrol.
James further stated that the accused persons attempted to commit arson as they tried to use petrol and used tyres to burn down the police station in Ogbere, Ibadan.
The Chief Magistrate, E. A. Idowu, however, adjourned the case till January 31 to enable the court receive legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution while ordering the remand of the accused in prison custody
