The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the defection of nine executive members of the party to the African Democratic Party (ADP) on Monday.
PREMIUM TIMES reported that Azeez Adesiji, deputy state chairman; Tajudeen Agbeti, ex officio; Ademola Bamidele, state auditor; Rasheed Bakare, Assistant General Secretary; Morakinyo Akintola, state PRO; Wale Adunola, ex officio; Bakare Idayat, assistant welfare secretary; Ogundare Afolabi, assistant spokesperson and Sikiru Kareem, assistant treasurer decamped to ADP on the allegations that the party’s activities defy morals.
However, reacting to the defection, the APC Director of Publicity and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi said ”everybody has a right to believe or disbelieve in their party”.
“Everybody has a right to believe or disbelieve in their party. Their reason for leaving is not convincing. They think that by claiming they are leaving with so called 6000 followers is going to make them the next government in Osun, they live in a fool’s paradise.”
Mr Oyatomi told PREMIUM TIMES that the next election is not about individuals but about collective responsibilities of the achievement of the APC in the last eight years.
“Even their guber candidate, Alhaji Adeoti, admitted that even the blind could see the good work of Aregbesola. And we ask: ‘which party is best suited to continue with that good work?’ The answer surely is the APC and it has the capacity and capability in Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, its candidate for September 22 guber election. We wish them all the luck they wish themselves, but we assure them that they will lose at the end of the game,” he said.
