The National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has sent the name of its governorship candidate for Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the September 22 gubernatorial election.
The letter, dated July 23 and submitted on July 24, was signed by the National Chairman and Secretary of the party, Uche Secondus and Ibrahim Tsauri, respectively.
Mr Adeleke a senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, was declared the winner of the Osun State PDP primary held last Saturday. He polled 1,569 votes ahead of his closest rival, Akin Ogunbiyi, who recorded 1,562 votes.
The PDP letter read, “We wish to inform the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that Sen. Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke is the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) candidate for the September 22, 2018 gubernatorial election in Osun State, having emerged winner of the Party’s gubernatorial primary conducted on Saturday July 21, 2018 and monitored by the commission.
“Please be informed that we shall be forwarding the name of Sen. Adeleke’s Running Mate in due course. Your cooperation in this regard will be highly appreciated.”
