The Socialist Party of Nigeria has elected Alfred Adegoke as its governorship candidate in the coming Osun governorship election scheduled for September 22, 2018.
A statement by SPN on Monday by its state secretary, Kola Ibrahim, said Mr Adegoke was elected at the party’s state congress on Saturday, and the election was monitored by four officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The statement said the election which held at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo, was also attended by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Abiodun Bamigboye.
According to Mr Ibrahim, the delegates were unanimous in the choice of Mr Adegoke to fly the party’s flag at the polls in September.
Mr Adegoke is legal practitioner and an activist and has a record of participating in the struggles for democracy during the dark days of military dictatorship.
SPN called on workers and the poor of the people to reject all anti-poor and corrupt political parties that represent capitalist ideology, and vote for its candidate in the coming election.
“We call on workers, youth and the poor to vote Alfred Adegoke, the socialist candidate of SPN in the forthcoming Osun Governorship Election holding in September, 2018,” the statement further said.
“SPN will end all anti-poor anti-worker policies of the ruling party in Osun State.”
