Ondo 2016: APC accepts Mimiko’s congratulatory message, seeks smooth transition

Olusegun Mimiko

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has expressed delight in the congratulatory message sent by Governor Olusegun Mimiko to the Governor-elect, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The party’s publicity secretary, Abayomi Adesanya, in a statement issued in Akure on Thursday, commended Mr. Mimiko for his ”show of sportsmanship’’.

“We accept the congratulatory message of Mr. Governor on our candidate’s landslide victory in the last Saturday’s governorship election.

“APC commends the outgoing governor for his statesmanship.

“We urge him to ensure smooth transition and genuine handover devoid of discrepancies and imbalances experienced by President Muhammadu Buhari when he took over from former President Goodluck Jonathan,” Mr. Adesanya said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr. Mimiko had on November 28 congratulated Mr. Akeredolu and wished him success in the challenging task of governing the state.

INEC had declared Mr. Akeredolu of the APC as winner of the November 26 governorship election in the state after polling 244,842 votes to beat his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede, of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, who garnered 150,380 votes.

I will not be surprise if Mimiko joins APC upon the expiration of his tenure in the office. That is the only way he can escape probe. APC is a safe heaven for treasury looters yet Mr. president wants the Judges to give accelerated hearing for his enemies and non members of his party to go to jail. Nigeria we hail thee.
