A man has been arrested in Ogun for allegedly beating his son to death.
Thirty-seven years old Rasak Adekoya was arrested by the police in Ogun for allegedly beating his 10-year-old son, Waries, to death.
The Ogun police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest to journalists on Tuesday. He said the suspect was arrested following a tip off from residents of the Ijebu Igbo community where he committed the crime
“The suspect was arrested by policemen attached to Ago-Iwoye Division following a tip off from members of the community who accused the man of subjecting the deceased boy to excessive beating over an allegation of stealing,” the spokesperson said.
Mr. Oyeyemi said preliminary investigations revealed several marks on the body of the deceased boy as a result of torture.
He said late Waries Adekoya’s body has been deposited at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital Mortuary, Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo for autopsy.
Mr. Oyeyemi said the suspect will be prosecuted as soon as investigation is completed.
