The police said on Wednesday that they have arrested four suspected kidnappers of some residents of Iseri, Lagos State.
The suspects – James Kegbe (a.k.a JJ), ThankGod Segede, Trust Bourdilon, and Natei Okunna, their gang leader – were arrested at different locations the state where they had gone to spend their share of the ransom paid for the release of the residents, police said in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Don Awunah.
They were arrested by officers of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), under the office of the Inspector General of Police, according to the statement.
The police said some residents of an Estate in Isheri area of Lagos state were kidnapped on September 27, and were subsequently released by their abductors.
The arrested men have confessed to their involvement in the kidnap incident, the police said.
“The Inspector General of Police wishes to restate the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to fight crime, especially the prevalent scourge of kidnapping to a bearable and tolerable state,” the statement said.
