The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, Ogun State Chapter, has denied being involved in the kidnap of Olayinka Osinkoya.
Mr. Osinkoya is a former secretary of the association.
The victim was abducted last Tuesday while travelling from Ijebu-Ode to Abeokuta to hold a meeting with the Chairman of Ogun State Local Government Service Commission.
There have been rumours that the kidnap had to do with the power tussle within RTEAN.
However, in a press statement made available to journalists on Sunday, the association’s secretary, Tiwalade Akingbade, said there was no crisis within the union.
He denied that the union was involved in Mr. Osinkoya’s kidnap.
“Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, Ogun State Branch, is not presently holding any election. Therefore, Alhaji Olayinka Osinkoya could not be in contest with/against anybody in the association,” he said.
“The kidnapping of Alhaji Olayinka Osinkoya was very unfortunate. Members of our association have no hand in the kidnapping of Alhaji Olayinka Osinkoya.”
