Father, mother, 3 children killed in Ogun fire

A deadly blaze killed a family of five on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, after engulfing their home.

Witnesses said the fire destroyed the home of the victims located at Ake area of the town, before burning its occupants beyond recognition.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Those killed are 45-year-old Michael Oloroku, his wife, Elizabeth, 44, and their three children: Rachel, Victoria and Esther.

A witness said the damage had already been done by the time fire fighters arrived the scene.

A police team led by a Divisional Police Officer, Veronica Osakwe, visited the scene, and the bodies were evacuated to the state hospital, Abeokuta.

The Ogun State commissioner of police, Abdulmajeed Ali, commiserated with the affected family, and advised people to be careful or do away with inflammable substances.
