The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a herbalist, Musiliu Otun, for allegedly keeping arms and making charms for armed robbers.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who made this known to journalists on Sunday, said the suspect was apprehended on Friday in his house during a raid.
“The Special Anti Robbery Squad of Ogun state command has arrested one herbalist for keeping arms and making charms for a group of suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing innocent Nigerians particularly the good people of Ogun State,” he said.
The spokesperson added that the anti-robbery squad had been working on a tip off on the activities and involvement of the herbalist in many robbery operations, before carrying out a raid in his house at Itunranikenken, Sagamu area of the state.
He said the suspect, who is now in police custody, was arrested with some guns, ammunition and assorted charms.
In another development, the police operatives attached to Sagamu Division of the Command on Sunday arrested one Kabiru Soyemi for robbery and cultism.
Mr. Adejobi said the operatives, who responded to a distress call from the victims of the suspect, raced to the area and arrested the suspect with a locally made pistol while other members of his group fled.
“The two suspects arrested by SARS and Sagamu Division are helping the police in their investigation, and efforts are in top gear to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicates,” he said.
“The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Abdulmajid Ali has commended the police operatives who carried out the Operations that led to the arrest of the suspects for their gallantry,” Mr. Adejobi added.
He said the commissioner has also directed that proper investigation be done and culpable persons charged to court.
