The Ondo State Teachers Service Commission has suspended the Principal of Igbatoro High School, Olokuta, Akure, Adelusi Bosede, for persistent absence from her duty post.
The commission also queried 20 other teachers of the school for the same offence.
In a statement released Friday, the commission said it found out while on a monitoring and inspection tour of the schools that Mrs. Adelusi stayed away from work for four days last week.
The chairman of the commission, Francis Igbasan, who handed down the suspension order, described the principal’s attitude as “unpatriotic and unserious”.
Mr. Igbasan stressed that the Ondo State Government would no longer tolerate school managers’ frivolous attitude to duty as the future of students should not be toyed with.
He said the government was no longer interested in “occasional principals” who jeopardize its efforts at developing the educational sector considering the huge investments of the state improving the sector.
The commission also frowned at the development where only eight teachers out of 28 were present in the school at the time the monitoring group visited.
It ordered the 20 teachers to report at its office to further explain their actions.
However, the commission commended the Principal of Ute High School, Ute, Sam-Edeki Ogun, for his commitment to his duties and putting in place a good learning and teaching environment in the school.
It also visited other secondary schools and commended the administration of the schools were standards were high.
