The father of the Ooni Elect, Oluropo Ogunwusi, has stated his excitement at the naming of his son, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, as the new Ooni of Ife, just as members of the Giesi ruling house rolled out the drums in the town on Monday.
Pa Ogunwusi said he was not taken by surprise that his son was the one chosen to ascend the throne of the Ooni, because he “grew up with signs of greatness”.
Speaking with much glee, he said his son had followed up on a prophecy which came by a “man of God” declaring that he would be a great man.
“A prophet predicted that he would be great and that was just before he was born,” Ogunwusi said.
He noted that he had observed him from his birth that the young man had a special touch to whatever he did.
“He is blessed with a rare gift, which shows in all his endeavors,” he noted.
Pa Ogunwusi called on all other contestants for the stool to put away their rivalry and join hands with the new monarch to develop Ife land.
Adeyeye Ogunwusi, a real estate developer, defeated 20 other contenders for the stool to emerge the choice of the kingmakers.
