Three suspected pickpockets were on Friday arrested at the inauguration ceremony of the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
Two of the suspects were arrested during a joint operation, while the other one was apprehended in a separate operation.
The incident occurred at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta while the event was on-going.
The first set of the gang was caught after they stole the phone of one of the guests. They were immediately apprehended by security operatives who found the phone on them.
The two suspects were immediately handcuffed, and after a brief interrogation, they were transferred to the Ibara Police Station for further questioning.
The suspects, who are in their twenties, admitted to PREMIUM TIMES that they committed the crime.
The third suspect was apprehended by officials of the State Vigilante Services at the venue, while attempting to steal a phone from the pocket of a spectator.
He was later handed over to the police.
