The Ogun State Police Command has shot dead four robbery suspects, injuring and arresting two others in a gun duel.
The command’s spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, who paraded the two arrested suspects at the headquarters of the special anti-robbery squad on Tuesday in Abeokuta, said nemesis caught up with the gang on Monday.
He said the gang had plotted to rob a bureau de change at Itoku, Abeokuta, but the anti-robbery squad, working on intelligence report, had acted to foil the robbery.
Mr. Adejobi said the robbers, realising they were in danger, engaged the police in a shoot out.
In the course of the gun duel, four of the suspects were killed while two others were arrested gunshot injuries
The police spokesperson said the robbers had been constituting a nuisance in the state and the command had been working on a series of method to nip their operations in the bud.
He commended the people of the state for sharing intelligence with the police, and assured the command would not relent in its determination to rid the state of activities of criminals.
He warned criminals to either leave the state or quit their illegal and criminal activities for peace to reign, else they would end up in early graves.
