​​INEC presents certificates of return to Ogun ​governor-elect, lawmakers

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Ogun State on Thursday presented certificates of return to the re-elected Governor of the State, Ibikunle Amosun, and other candidates elected into the Senate and House of Representatives.

The ceremony held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital
​,​ and was witnessed by a large number of residents, traditional rulers and supporters of the All Progressives Congress.

Those who also received certificates include: Deputy Governor-Elect, Yetunde Onanuga; Senator Ogun Central, Olanrewaju Tejuoso; and Senator, Ogun West, Gbolahan Dada.

Others are elected members House of Representatives – Mukaila Kazeem (Abeokuta North/Obafemi-0wode) Jimoh Ojugbele (Ado-Odo/Ota), Kayode Oladele (Egbado North/Imeko-Afon), Adekunle Akinlade (Egbado South/Ipokia), Isiaka Ibrahim (Ifo/Ewekoro), Adekoya Adesegun (Ijebu North/Ijebu East) and Odeneye Kehindec(Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North-East

In his welcome address, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Timothy Ibitoye, expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the elections pointing out that there was no reported case
​of​ violence in the state.

“It is worthy to note that INEC Ogun State came first throughout the federation on the announcement and declaration of results of Gubernatorial/House of Assembly elections. Equally we came second during the Presidential/National Assembly Elections,” Mr. Ibitoye said.

The REC called on all winners to be magnanimous in victory and accommodate the losers.

“I implore you to render selfless service to your community as power now belongs to the people, you should run an inclusive and participatory governance”.

There was no presentation of certificates of return to the elected members of the State House of Assembly. The Independent National Electoral Commission did not say why.
