Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Tuesday urged traders at the popular Ladipo Spare Parts Market to support the gubernatorial aspiration of the All Progress Congress candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The governor, who arrived the market with Mr. Ambode to a rousing welcome by traders around 5 p.m. said the APC candidate is the best man to succeed him.

He said Mr. Ambode had garnered considerable experience in government and he trusts his competence to move Lagos forward.

The governor said Lagos is too important to be put in the hands of inexperienced people.

“The APC government has done a lot to improve the lives of residents. And now that my tenure expires soon, the state needs someone with the right experience to move it forward,” he said.

Mr. Fashola said the APC government would continue to provide opportunities for residents of all backgrounds to succeed in their different endeavours and live better lives.

He said the various interventions, such as street lights at the market, spoke of his administration’s commitment to promoting businesses.

The governor said a number of other interventions had been planned for the market and they could only be executed with an APC succeeding government.

Speaking, Mr. Ambode said Ladipo was an important market in the state in terms of business volume and the jobs it had created for hundreds of traders.

The APC governorship candidate therefore said he would do his best to transform the market to enhance its economic value, if elected.

He said he would rehabilitate all bad roads around the market and improve the sanitation and general environment of the market.

” I will also build a pedestrian bridge at Toyota bus stop to enable easy access to the market, “he said.

Mr. Ambode said his mission was to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Fashola and take the state to the next level.

He, however, appealed to the traders and all Lagosians to vote for him in April, to ensure the implementation of his development plans.

The leader of the traders, Ikechukwu Anumanu, thanked the state government for the consistent support for the traders at the market.

He, however, appealed to the government to help in fixing the bad roads at the market, which he said, were affecting business activities.

” We also urge the government to always consult traders on issues that affect us before taking decisions.

“We are law abiding people and we will work with the government always to improve the market, “he said.

The leader said the traders had endorsed Mr. Ambode as next governor and would mobilise support for him in the elections.
