A former Ogun State Governor and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Gbenga Daniel, on Monday gave reasons why President Goodluck Jonathan should be re-elected.
Mr. Daniel spoke at the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Organisation Advisory Committee at the state PDP secretariat, Abeokuta.
He is the Adviser-General of the 22-man committee, which is part of the Jonathan campaign team in Ogun State.
Mr Daniel said so far, Mr. Jonathan is one of the best performing presidents in Nigeria’s history.
He noted that Mr. Jonathan rejuvenated the railway system, carried out extensive road construction across Nigeria as well as embarked on other infrastructural development projects.
“When we were young and we were to go on excursion, we travelled by train from Idogo passing through Ijoko, Agege, among others,” Mr. Daniel said. “The rail system suddenly went into a coma. It is President Jonathan that revived it.
“On road construction, we must give it to Jonathan. We can all see the Lagos- Ibadan Expressway, and the Sagamu-Benin-Ore Road. What about the renovation and construction of airports? He also established more higher institutions in the country.”
Mr. Daniel urged the committee members and party supporters to work hards towards the re-election of Mr. Jonathan.
He called on residents of the state to vote out the All Progressives Congress, APC, which he said has inflicted “suffering and hardship” on the people for the past three and half years.
The advisory committee includes Jubril Martins-Kuye, Joju Fadairo,Wole Adeyanju, Dayo Bayo, Doyin Okupe, Dimeji Bankole, Sarafa Ishola, Kayode Ajibola, Remi Bakare and Kola Onadipe.
Others are Salmat Badru, Lekan Mustapha, Dave Salako, Gloria Shoda, Lamidi Odulawa, Kola Bajomo, Babatunde Fadun, Iyabo Apampa, Ayodeji Otegbola, Titi Oseni and Segun Seriki.
