Ogun APC House of Representatives candidate rally turns bloody

A campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress [APC] candidates for Ogun House of Representatives, Segun Williams, on Wednesday evening turned bloody with two persons reportedly killed.

The rally took place at ward 8, in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the State, but turned sour as crisis ensued.

A witness said that scores of people were injured and were later rushed to a private hospital.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered that the crisis was as a result of the money that was to be shared among the party supporters. Some touts and political thugs are said to be behind the free for all where dangerous weapons including guns, knives, broken bottles and charms among others were used to attack each other.

The development saw many people and residents of the area scampering for their safety, while a number of party supporters immediately deserted the venue.

When contacted, the Ogun State Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident and said a woman was shot dead at the scene.

“It is true there was fracas, and one woman was shot dead at the scene, but the command has commenced investigation,” Mr. Adejobi said.

The command spokesperson told PREMIUM TIMES that the police have deployed its officers to the scene for further investigation.
