The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ogun State Chapter on Wednesday launched its election campaign with a public presentation of its governorship candidate, Akin Odunsi, and running mate, Segun Adesegun, as well as candidates for all other offices.

The campaign launch, led by a former governor of the state, Segun Osoba, took place at the Alake Palace Ground, Abeokuta, and attracted thousands of party members across all the 236 wards of the wards.

All the party candidates were presented with the party flag, with applause coming from members of the party.

The party’s governorship candidate is a serving Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, while his running mate is serving Deputy Governor in the State, who parted ways with his boss, Ibikunle Amosun over alleged maltreatment.

Notable signatories at the venue, which was filled to capacity included, Lanihun Ajayi, Ayo Adebanjo, Derin Osoba, and others.

The leader of the party, Segun Osoba, expressed optimism of winning the elections convincingly, adding that, the party is targeting 500,000 votes at the poll.

He affirmed that those in attendance are genuine members of the party, and not rented crowd as been practice of some other parties.
Mr. Osoba, who was also accompanied by his wife to the venue, called on party faithful to get prepared for political war, using their voters card as bullets to wage and win the war.

In his own remark, Lanihun Ajayi said he was happy to be associated with Social Democratic Party, SDP, for the fact that Osoba is the leader of the party, stressing that, it shows that all members of the party are credible.

The 89-year-old Mr. Ajayi called on electorates to vote for the party in the forthcoming general election in the state, just as he expressed optimism of victory for the party to take over from next political dispensation in the state.

The governorship candidate of the party, Akin Odunsi, in his acceptance speech, said the Social Democratic Party is a platform of action.
