In continuation of his re-election campaign, President Goodluck Jonathan will be in Ogun State on Monday to solicit support of voters.
Apart from a rally scheduled for the 35,000-seater Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Mr. Jonathan is also expected to visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his home in Abeokuta.
The Ogun State governorship candidate of Mr. Jonathan’s Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Gboyega Isiaka, confirmed the rally at the Annual New Year Thanksgiving Singsong Service organised by the former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, at Abraham’s Tabernacle Church, Sagamu, Ogun State.
Mr. Isiaka called on party members to come out in large numbers to welcome the president, and to also vote for him and other candidates of the PDP at the forthcoming election.
As at Sunday evening, PDP leaders were seen concluding plans for the rally.
Apart from a likely visit to Mr. Obasanjo, who helped Mr. Jonathan to victory in 2011 but has been very critical of the president’s performance, the President will also visit the Alake of Egbaland, Adedotun Gbadebo, in his palace. Mr. Jonathan is expected to sleep in Abeokuta and proceed with his campaign to other South Western states on Tuesday.
