Ogun SDP flags off campaign Wednesday

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ogun State chapter, has announced it will, next Wednesday, flag off its official campaign for the 2015 general election.

The party in a statement on Thursday by its publicity secretary, Clement Adeniyi, made available to journalists in Abeokuta, said the flag-off was scheduled to hold at the Alake’s Palace Square in the state capital.

The party came to limelight in Ogun State following a former governor, Olusegun Osoba’s defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the party.

The state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, was accused of being autocratic and selfish with party affairs, causing many APC members led by Mr. Osoba to abandon the party for SDP.

There are reports that some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, following an unresolved power tussle, have concluded arrangements to defect to the SDP during the flag-off.

Meanwhile, the SDP has ratified all its candidates for all elective positions.
