The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ogun State Chapter, on Thursday held its congress where candidates for various offices were ratified alongside the state executives.
The congress, which took place in Abeokuta, also gave automatic ticket to two Senators, Gbenga Kaka (Ogun East) and Akin Odunsi (Ogun West), who defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Olumide Osoba, a serving member of the House of Representatives and son of the former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, also got the party’s ticket, while another serving member of the lower house, Kunle Adeyemi, a former lawmaker under the APC,(Ifo/Ewekoro) was ratified on the SDP ticket.
Other serving House of Representatives members, who got the party’s ticket included: Abudu Balogun (Waterside/Ijebu North/East), Yinka Oduwole (Odogbolu/Ijebu-Ode/Ijebu North-East) and Buraimoh Bukola (Sagamu/Ikenne/Remo North),while a new entrant, Joel Sopade(Abeokuta South) got the ticket as well, but candidates for Ado-Odo/Ota, Imeko-Afon and Ipokia/Yewa Federal Constituencies were yet to be resolved.
For the State House of Assembly, three former APC lawmakers, Elizabeth Anifowose (Obafemi/Owode), Femi Allen-Taylor (Abeokuta South) and Elemide (Odeda) got the party tickets alongside other candidates.
The governorship primary of the party was scheduled for the weekend, according to source, while the unresolved slot for Ogun Central Senatorial seat as well as the House of Representatives seats in Ado-Odo/Ota,Imeko-Afon and Ipokia/Yewa Federal Constituency will equally be addressed in due course
Meanwhile, the ratified executive of the party were the pioneer officers, led by Olu Agemo, with Abimbola Awofeso as the Secretary.
