All the 13 members of Ogun State House of Assembly known to be loyal to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Tuesday, won the primaries of All Progressives Congress, APC, to contest for a second term in office.
The other 13 lawmakers loyal to former Governor Olusegun Osoba had earlier defected to both Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
The party primaries which recorded dramatic moments in most of the voting centres saw the Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, and his other twelve colleagues clinching the party tickets. The Speaker ( Yewa North) polled 188 votes out of 189 votes.
An aspirant from the Abeokuta North constituency, Taiwo Oludotun, who was contesting against the incumbent, Olayiwola Ojodu, was asked to step down but his supporter vehemently resisted.
A staunch supporter of Mr. Oludotun who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES under the condition of anonymity, said their choice aspirant spent so much money on the local government executives and his supporters to step down.
In a mild protest, Mr. Oludotun’s supporters collected their ballot papers without voting and handed them over to him to use the way he wants.
