The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has extended the deadline for the Ogun State Continuous Voters Registration, CVR, earlier scheduled to close on Monday, November 17.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sam Olumekun, who made announcement on Sunday, told journalists that two days will be added to the period of the exercise.

Mr. Olumekun said this is “in view of the challenges arising from the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration exercise in Ogun State”.

He said the exercise will now end on November 19 and warned citizens not to engage in double/multiple registration; stressing that it is a punishable offence and such names will be deleted.

“Again, people whose names appear in the voter registers but could not find their cards should not re-register as their cards shall be provided in due course,” Mr. Olumekun said. “INEC, hereby, assures the general public that all eligible citizens would be registered and issued valid voters’ cards before the 2015 elections.”

He said a person can check if he is registered to vote by sending an SMS containing the following details to 08171646879 or 20120.

Name of State, Surname, and last five digits of Voter Identification Number on the Temporary Voter Cards, e.g. “Ogun,Kayode,06782” or “INEC,Ogun,Kayode,06782 to 20120′.
