The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has lost his child, Yewande Semiat.
The family in a statement disclosed that the six-year old was born with the sickle cell condition and was a radiant girl who struggled with the disease.
It said her condition was originally managed at a Lagos hospital but she was later transferred to a London hospital where she eventually died.
“With gratitude to Almighty Allah and with heavy hearts, we announce the demise of our daughter Yewande Semiat Bankole, aged six years at St Marys Children’s Hospital, London on October 1, 2014,” the statement said.
The family said the remains of the girl would be buried according to Islamic rites and requested prayers for the repose of her soul.
