The Ogun state deputy governor, Segun Adesegun, may be on his way out of the All Progressives Congress.
Mr. Adesegun hinted at the Ogun West Senatorial meeting of the party held at Gateway Multipurpose hall in Ilaro on Thursday that he might cross to the Action Group of Nigeria, AGN.
Mr. Adesegun is reportedly an unrepentant supporter of a former Governor of the state, Olusegun Osoba, the leader of the Action Group of Nigeria.
When contacted by PREMIUM TIMES Thursday night, Mr. Adesegun said it was still premature for him to speak on his next political moves.
“Yes, I was at a meeting today,” he said. “But I have no comment about what my next move will be. You will know soon.”
PREMIUM TIMES also gathered that three senators in the state: Gbenga Kaka, Femi Obadara and Akin Odunsi, were present at the Ilaro meeting.
There has been rancour within the APC in Ogun State, with the party splitting into two- a faction loyal to the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and another to the erstwhile governor, Mr. Osoba.
With the planned merger between Labour Party and PDP on Monday, the opposition remains bent on voting out the incumbent governor, Mr. Amosun, in next year’s election.
